Carotid Endarterectomy
Carotid endarterectomy is a surgical procedure that cleans out and opens up the narrowed carotid artery. It is used in patients at high risk for thrombotic ischemic strokes, which are caused by blockage in the internal carotid artery. It is also sometimes used after a stroke.
