Two common heart drugs may protect the brain from strokes

New laboratory research has found that two commonly used heart drugs, digoxin and digitoxin, may be the first medicines that can protect brain cells from damage during a stroke. A chemical found in both drugs, nerilifolin, may act to prolong the period that the brain can tolerate not getting enough oxygen, blood, and energy after a stroke. Read more »
