Stroke risk falls sharply with healthy lifestyle

New research suggests that living a healthy lifestyle can cut your risk of having a stroke by about 80 percent. Harvard investigators found that women who avoided smoking, maintained a healthy weight, exercised, and drank moderate amounts of alcohol lowered their risk of any stroke by 79 percent and their risk of ischemic stroke by 81 percent. Men who followed these healthy habits cut their overall risk of stroke by 69 percent and their risk of ischemic stroke by 80 percent. Read more »
