3 common meds trigger most ER visits by seniors

Adverse reactions to just three medications are responsible for one-third of all U.S. emergency room visits by senior citizens, a government report has found. The blood thinner warfarin (Coumadin), the diabetes med insulin, and the heart drug digoxin (Lanoxin) caused about 58,000 ER visits a year in people ages 65 and older in 2004 and 2005, researchers found.
