What Happens During A Heart Attack

Plavix approved for treatment of severe heart attack

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the heart drug Plavix (clopidogrel bisulfate) for the treatment of a type of severe heart attack. This type of heart attack, called acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), occurs when an artery becomes suddenly blocked. The FDA's approval allows STEMI patients to use the anti-clotting drug Plavix to prevent subsequent blockage of arteries that could lead to more heart attacks or strokes. Read more »
