What Is Ace Inhibitors?
Blood pressure medications in the class known as angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors appear to reduce the risk of developing Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia, researchers say. In the study, researchers found that men who took ACE inhibitors such as lisinopril (Prinivil, Zestril)--which block receptors to the brain chemical angiotensin--were less likely to develop dementia than those who did not take the drugs.
