What Is Transient Ischemic Attack

Patients who've suffered a transient ischemic attack (TIA) and
receive quick assessment and treatment cut their risk of having a
major stroke by 80 percent, two new studies have found. TIAs, or
'mini-strokes,' have similar symptoms as major strokes, but their
symptoms tend to disappear within several hours. Experts say these
studies show that TIA patients should receive the same urgent
attention as patients with acute coronary problems.
