Obesity reduces risk of dying after a heart attack

In what doctors admit is a paradox, new research suggests that people who are overweight have half the risk of dying after a heart attack than thinner patients--despite being at higher risk for having a heart attack in the first place. Experts say that one reason obese patients may fare better is because overweight patients are more likely to leave the hospital with prescriptions for heart and cholesterol medications after suffering a heart attack.
