Patients who've suffered a minor stroke known as a transient ischemic attack (TIA) have a substantial risk of suffering a major stroke within seven days, new research suggests. British researchers found that about one in 20 TIA patients will have a major stroke within a week. But the risk of this major stroke was lowest among TIA patients who received emergency care in specialized stroke units.
