Weight gain, muscle loss associated with aging spurs disease

Researchers say older Americans face twice the trouble when it
comes to body fat. Older adults both gain body fat and lose muscle
as they age. This combination of factors increases the risk for
developing arthritis, diabetes, heart disease and hypertension.
Muscle loss is also associated with an increase in the risk of
disability, experts say.
