Sleeplessness can lead to high blood pressure

Adults who don't get enough sleep are at greater risk for developing high blood pressure over time, researchers say. University of Chicago scientists followed the blood pressure levels and sleep patterns of 578 adults with an average age of 40 for five years. Investigators found that each hour of reduction in sleep duration the adults experienced was associated with a 37-percent increase in the odds of developing high blood pressure over the course of the study.  Read full story >
