New device cuts heart events--but not deaths

An experimental device that works by coordinating heart pumping through electrical pulses has been found to reduce cardiac events in a new trial, but it does not appear to reduce mortality among heart patients. Experts say these findings about the MADIT-CRT device may help extend its use beyond the most severely ill heart failure patients. Read full story >
