Two tests needed to screen young athletes for heart defects: study

Student athletes should be given both an EKG and an ECHO to screen for heart defects that could lead to sudden cardiac death, a new study has found. Researchers say using just one of the cardiac tests can cause doctors to miss these defects, which are often masked because of the young athletes' peak physical condition.  Read full story >
