Heart Disease Will Cost Americans $503 Billion in 2010

Experts with the American Heart Association say heart disease will cost the United States $503 billion in 2010, which is an increase of six percent from last year's figures. The experts say this figure includes not only medical costs, but also lost productivity due to disability and death. The heart association also noted that obesity, poor diet, and too little exercise are causing this their estimate of next year's heart disease costs.
