Low-Carb Diet Best for Lowering Blood Pressure: Study

Scientists have found that a low-carbohydrate diet may be the best choice for helping people lower their blood pressure. In a recent study, researchers say a low-carbohydrate diet was as effective at helping people lose weight as a combination of a low-fat diet and the weight loss medication orlistat (Alli, Xenical). Though both diets helped study participants lose about 10 percent of their body weight, people who were on the low-carb diet were more successful at lowering their blood pressure than those following the other diet.
