A new report published in the Journal of the American Medical Association shows that while the number of Americans who have high blood pressure has not declined, more people who have the condition have it under control. Researchers found that blood pressure control among all hypertensives has gone from 27 percent to 50 percent, and that awareness of hypertension has iimproved from 69 to 81 percent. But the scientists say their findings suggest that the word is getting out about the importance of hypertension control, but not about its prevention.
