Study Raises Concerns Over Heart Imaging Radiation

According to a new study, heart imaging procedures deliver a significant amount of radiation to patients, and researchers say doctors and patients should weigh these radiation risks against the benefits of the tests. Researchers looked at five major health care markets and found that nearly one in 10 adults under the age of 64 had undergone a heart procedure that involved radiation over a three-year period. One procedure--myocardial perfusion imaging--accounted for 74 percent of radiation exposure from heart scans alone.  Read full story >
