Low Blood Pressure Drug Pulled from the Market

Drugmaker Shire has decided to withdraw its low blood pressure drug ProAmatine (midodrine hydrochloride) from the market. ProAmatine has been used since 1999 to treat the low blood pressure condition known as orthostatic hypotension. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced earlier this week that the agency was considering rescinding approval of both branded and generic versions of the drug after post-marketing studies showed that the medication did not improve patients' conditions.  Read full story >
