FDA Approves Generic Lovenox

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the first generic form of the blood thinner Lovenox (enoxaparin sodium) for the treatment of deep vein thrombosis. Lovenox is made from the blood-thinning medication heparin. FDA officials report that about 100,000 cases of pulmonary embolism due to deep vein thrombosis are reported each year in the United States, making it the third-most common cause of death among people in hospitals.  Read full story >
