Mountain States Have Lowest Heart Failure Hospitalization Rates

According to a new government report, the U.S. Mountain state region had the lowest average rate of potentially avoidable hospitalization for heart failure in 2006. Potentially avoidable hospitalizations are called this because these admissions for the care of chronic illnesses could have been prevented if the patients had good quality outpatient care. The Mountain region includes Montana, Wyoming, Idaho, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Arizona, and New Mexico.
