Fat-Filled Arteries Offer Clues to Stroke, Heart Attack Risk

Though all people who have atherothrombosis have a higher risk of heart attack and stroke, new research has found that some of these patients carry a greater risk of these events than others. Atherothrombosis is characterized by abnormal fatty deposits in the arteries. In a study of more than 45,000 patients with this condition, scientists found that atherothrombosis patients who have a prior history of heart attack or other emergencies linked to a blocked artery have the highest risk of heart attack and stroke.  Read full story >
