In the United States one woman dies every minute from a cardiovascular event. Yet coronary heart disease is still considered by many as a "man's disease." Women do appear to develop disease 7-8 years later than men, but by the age of 65 a woman's risk is almost the same as a man's.

So, it’s important that women take heart disease seriously too, and try to reduce their risk factors wherever possible.
