Chloe, 9 years old, implanted 2000.
After several surgeries and severe heart failure when she was less than two years old, Chloe received an On-X® Prosthetic Heart Valve in the mitral position at Southampton General Hospital in the United Kingdom (UK) from pediatric surgeon Marcus Haw. He said at the time of implant, "The great thing is that we may not have to replace the valve again . . . for young children this prosthesis offers something new, particularly in the mitral position." Chloe was the first pediatric implant of the On-X® valve in the UK.

Her mother, Emma, gives these current details about 9-year-old Chloe, "She has so much energy its amazing. She wakes up at 6:30 a.m. every day (even weekends!) and once her eyes open that's it, she's up and going and doesn't stop until bedtime. She does near enough everything her friends at school do. Chloe does so well at school, she is in the top sets for all subjects and just loves going to school every day.
