I just went to take a physical for a new job. My BP was 190/121. I have been out of work for some time and doctors I have called require payment up front. Any ideas on how to lower this? I have my own cuff and it has been as high as 215/154. I walk daily and changed my d...

Your blood pressure is dangerously high. You have no insurance? My son didn't either at 33 he had a heart attack. Please go to the county hospital or any hospital. They will give you a script for meds even if you dont have the money for the hospital owing money is better than risking your life. No home remedies work, I have been a nurse for 29 years. Go get some kind of help. While your bp is high it is gradually increasing the size of your heart which will cause it to work harder. KJ After you take the script a few days go apply for a job that has insurance and keep walking. KJ

I definitely wouldn't exclusively use home remedies instead of prescription medications. Although celery naturally lowers blood pressure... after I eat a couple of sticks of celery I find a measurable change in my blood pressure. Also Hawthorn berries are claimed to be effective to lower blood pressure somewhat.
If I were you I would go to a local clinic... many times you can be seen for free and even receive free medications. Walgreen's drug stores also have clinics where you can be seen for free and get prescriptions... and Wal Mart now has a list of medications they give out for free if you have a prescription. If you go to a clinic, maybe you could go to Wal Mart's pharmacy first and get their list of free medications (they'll give you one if you ask)... then go to the clinic and ask to be prescribed a medication on that list.

You NEED a workup for this. Your BP is dangerously high- in the critical care range. Go to the ER. There are several meds that will lower your BP and are on Walmarts 4$/mth list. Get a script from the ER at the very least. Ther is no valid excuse for not doing something posetive for your problem.

my husband went to an inexpensive clinic and found out he has these hign blood pressure. He has taken medicines for three months. He still reads between 195/145 and 245/195. Dr said he needs tests and will cost 5000. Where can we go. No insurance/job.
