The scientists have reported a rare genetic disorder called as Bardet-Biedl syndrome (BBS), which is known to mingle with the brain's ability to send signals to the body stop eating when you have consumed enough food. The brain uses leptin hormone to signal satiety, which is also associated with high blood pressure.

The team of researchers at University of Iowa found that when a certain protein is defective in the body, the leptin signal gets disrupted. This hormone suppresses appetite and elevates body's ability to use calories.
