BP rises dramatically when resting, why ?

My systolic BP jumps about 30 points  when I am dozing off, resting, watch tv etc. (i.e no activity). However, it returns to normal after being active again, ,walking eating, exercising etc.

Usually happens in the afternoon  just a few hours after taking meds ( Toprol XL and Atacan...

    Hello Placitas and thanks for your post.

     

    I search our site and thought the followng information might be helpful.

     

    First, you migh twant to read the material on Toprol XL and Atacand .

     

    Next, there are a number of causes for hypertension.  I'm not certain why you have a rise the way you do, but you must speak to your doctor about this as soon as possible.  I am not medically trained and just couldn't answer that question properly.

     

    Hope this helps, please let us know what your doctor tells you.

    I have mentioned this to several MDs.

    They have been unable to give me an answer except to say it is odd and try taking the meds at different times.
