MIGRAINE WITH VERY LOW BLOOD PRESSURE

By luvbf1978 Saturday, June 02, 2007
I HAVE REALLY BAD MIGRAINES AND I ONLY GET THEM WHEN I WAKE UP AND I HAVE KEPT A JOURNAL AND MY BLOOD PRESSURE IS ALWAYS REALLY LOW WHEN I CHECK IT WITH THE MIGRAINE. I USUALLY HAVE TO GO TO THE ER WHEN I GET THESE AND THEY HAVE EVEN STATED THAT MY BLOOD PRESSURE IS EXTEMELY LOW TO HAVE A MIGRAINE. FOR EXAMPLE 64/52. I DO NOT SLEEP NO MORE THAN 3 TO 4 HOURS A NIGHT BUT WHEN I DO SLEEP MORE THAN THAT. THIS IS WHEN I GET A MIGRAINE AND IT IS LIKE MY BLOOD PRESSURE IS BOTTOMING OUT IN MY SLEEP. IS THIS NORMAL WHAT SHOULD I DO?

Most of my migraines are when I wake up in the morning or I am woken in the night with them.

So they are by no means a classical migraine.

I think there are different causes and that they are just symptoms of another problem.

I am usually very tired on going to sleep so maybe... a heart problem?

I have suffered with cluster migraines for years.

I have the same symptoms as you. If I sleep for more than 6 hrs...I wake up with BAD migraines. I have very low BP (I am guessing due to this)????

I went on a drug called topomax for 6 mos and NO MORE headaches.

I went off the meds and within 6-8 mos the migraines came back accompanied by the very low BP.

I am back to step 1

Going back on 25mg topomax (anti seizure type med) starting tomorrow.

Can't handle the lack of quality of life. Thanks for sharing...as I know I am not alone.

Donna from Canada (49 yrs old) had this condition for 20 yrs.
