Hi----I have been on three different antihypertensives over the past 7 months----two ARB's (Benicar 10 mg and Atacand 8 mg)--Benicar kept the pressure down but gave me intolerable side effects such as calf cramping and Atacand did not give me the same side effects, but was ineffective, in fact letting me have a recent hypertensive crisis in which my B/P hit as high as 175/104---I was then put on Tenoretic a few days ago, with immediate good control but am very lightheaded and somewhat nauseous. I also worry about being on a diuretic or a beta blocker as I hear the beta blockers are pretty serious medicine.

I have noticed in the 7 months that I have been on these drugs, during the time I was sleeping and until about 10 AM in the mornings, my B/Ps were quite a bit higher, say about 10 points or so systolic AND diastolic.  Around 10 AM, they would drop to normal range each day.  Is this a worrisome thing or a sign of some more serious heart issue, etc?  No one seems to know the answer to this question!  Thanks for the reply.
