blood pressure reading in extremities

By dragonladyc1 Tuesday, October 16, 2007

I have a question about blood pressure reading and sites.  Due to medical surgeries. The doctors have to take blood pressure readings in my legs. My question is what should the readings be in the legs vs the arm blood pressure.  My blood pressure reading in my leg are High and when One was accidently done on my arm it was lower.   Anyone know anything about this.

Dear dragonladyc1,

It is indeed normal to have a higher blood pressure reading in the lower extremities than in the arms. Check out "ankle-brachial index" on the web.
