variation in systolic and diastolic measurements?

I have recently received results of a 24 hr blood pressure monitor which resulted in slightly higher systolic results and normal diastolic results.  Doctor has prescribed a mild diuretic - I have a home measurement kit which sometimes shows normal and slighter higher results on the systo...

    Dear Perry:

     

    Thanks so much for your post.  I am a moderator for this site and though not medically trained, I can try and help you find information or at least guide you in the right direction. 

     

    It sounds like you are working closely with your doctor on this issue.  This is really important.  Having a professional medical evaluation and prescribed treatment plan is one of the crucial things to overcoming high-blood pressure.

     

    There are alot of other things you can do, as well, to try and lower your rates.  You might read our section on managing your high blood pressure.  You should also check out the Causes and Risks.
