I have a suspected UTI but they can't grow any bacteria. Is there a simple reason for this.

Anne

I recently had a mitral valve replaced and had a catheta but endocarditis has been excluded.  An ultrasound shows normal but I have blood in the urine. My blood pressure is elevated. My doctor has sent me to a specialist and he thinks it is just an infection.  We have tried 5 antibiotics and all work for a while and then the bleeding comes back and the symptoms, high blood pressure, sweaty palms, pains in the groin and blood in the urine.  Is there a simple reason why the cultures might not grow bacteria.  Thanks Anne
