I TAKE HIGHBLOOD PRESSURE MEDICINE. THE PHARMACY USUALLY GIVES ME THE SAME COLOR AND SHAPE, BUT ONE DAY THEY GAVE ME ANOTHER SHAPE AND A DIFFERENT COLOR.

SO ON YOUR WEBSITE, I LOOKED UP MY MEDICINE, BY NAME AND FOUND BOTH OF THEM.  AGAIN MY QUESTION IS WHAT DOES HCL MEAN ON THE PRESCRIPTION?

THANK YOU

Brenda Howell,

Thanks for your question.

The answer to your question is:  HCL stands for HydroChLoride.  Most likely this is the generic formula name and HCL comes at the end.  This means that the compound has hydrochloride as part of the formula.  There are several drugs on the market that include HCL in their formulation.

I hope this answered your question.
