I take HBP meds and now I have too much potassium, which is not good -why?

I have HBP and am on Meds. I have had 3 stents placed. I feel good and try to eat healthy. I am almost 76 and have been working as a constuction Superintendent, which requires alot of walking. Now my doctor tells me I should avoid Potassium rich food.I thought Potassium is good for heart and high...
