Q: Could Methodone and Vicodin be the cause of my high blood pressure?

I've taken methadone and vicodin for more than 2 yrs due to chronic pain. I've also been diagnoised with high BP,which I always keep track of and take meds for. I'd forgotten "only" my pain medication when I went on a trip for 1 week but still checked my BP. That was the "only" time in 2yrs my BP was so low, it averaged 95/70. Could methadone or Vicodin be causing my high BP?

Hi Clipperhere,

High blood pressure is a rare side effect of vicodin and long term use of methodone may lead to high blood pressure. I recommend discussing with your physician to determine if you need to adjust your treatment plan.
