Hi All-rite,

From what you've shared it sounds like you are doing fine.  However, consult with your physician or nurse to rule out hypertension.  The episodes of high blood pressure you've had over the past few years is likely linked to the extra stress and illness you mentioned.

Thanks for the reply, that was very helpful. My doctor actually had me on medication for quite some time. The meds were changed to low dose gradually and now she has taken me off the meds. But I still monitor my BP at home regularly. Although I should be happy that I dont have to take meds, I am worried that my BP may be going up but I am not just capturing it when it happens. There was even a time that I re-started taking mdicine on my own but stopped again after talking to my doctor. Is it normal that BP fluctuates daily and what I should really look at is the average over a period of time? What would be an acceptable high value on the fluctuations? My concern about the fluctuations is because I regularly cycle and run; also once a month go through jet lag (travel from Asia to Africa); and work is a bit on stressful side ( that's why I run or bike). It is normal for blood pressure to fluctuate throughout the day. Reasons for normal blood pressure fluctuation can include level of activity, physical or mental stress, diet and sleep pattern. I recommend discussing your blood pressure fluctuation with your physician to determine a "safe" fluctuation range for you.
