Q: Recently added micardis and not getting as good control as with Atenolol alone.

I was taking atenolol 25 mg. twice a day, which was controling my BP fairly well but my heart rate was running in the mid 50's.  Dr. decreased Atenolol to 25 mg daily and added micardis 40 mg. and my BP is not as well controlled. Will the micardis work for me? - been on it a little over 3 weeks.

Hi Mona,

The only way to know if Micardis will work in your situation is through trial and error, which it sounds like you are doing.  Continue to work with your physician to monitor your blood pressure control.  If Micardis does not control your blood pressure within a time frame determined with your physician it may mean changing medications again or adjusting the dosage.

All the best,
