Yes, anytime your average blood pressure is equal to or greater than 120/80 cardiovascular risk is increased.
Ideally, blood pressure should be less than 120/80. A blood pressure reading between 120-139/80-89 is considered pre-hypertension, and greater than 140/90 is hypertension (high blood pressure).
I recommend your son take steps to reduce his blood pressure.
Also, discuss his situation with his MD for the most accurate recommendations.
