GMS
09/22/09

I was recently taken off of water pills because of low potassium levels.

Is it safe to take Potassium supplements with Benicar and Cartia XT?

And if it is safe, how much should I take?

Thanks so much for your response.

How do I make sure I am getting the daily requirement for potassium?

Ae meal replacement drinks a good way to supplement?

Hi GMS,

No, I do not recommend using meal replacement drinks to obtain potassium.  I recommend including foods rich in potassium as part of your typical daily diet.

Some good sources of potassium include - cantaloupe, bananas, dates, nuts, oranges, and green leafy vegetables.

All the best,
