12 yr. old with bp of 101 over 58 is this too low?

Hello pam,

 

As long as the child has no other health problems and this was just a random reading, I would not be concerned at all about this blood pressure.

 

For people in general, blood pressure lower than the goal of 120/80 is not a health concern unless they have symptoms from it.  For instance, you could have a BP of 90/60, and as long as your were not dizzy, light headed, especially if when you stand up, then your pressure is fine.

 

Kids generally have much lower blood pressure than adults.

 

I would not suggest rechecking this pressure, unless the child developes symptoms.
