My blood pressure reading was 122/60. Is this bad?
I'm a 50 year old female. I weigh 175 and I'm 5'4. I used a store blood pressure machine and it was 122/60. The parameters say that 120 and above is borderline. Why would one number be over twice as much as the other?
Hi Jena,
The goal blood pressure for most people is less then 120/80, although anything less then 140/90 usually does not require therapy with medication. Your blood pressure of 122/60 is good and shouldn't cause you to worry! Your blood pressure maybe actually even be a little lower then that if you hadn't been sitting for at least 5 minutes prior to taking the reading, if you had to go to the bathroom, or if you had smoked or drank caffeine within the past hour of taking your pressure.
