increased toprol from 25 to 50 &pressure went up why?
after pressure went up (after only 2 increased doses) went back to original dose of 25mg but pressure will not come back to original levels. the increased pressure is substantial.causes

Like many blood pressure medications, it takes several days to see an effect of any change in dosage. I cannot think of any reason that raising the dose of the toprol would increase your blood pressure. Blood pressure is very dynamic, meaning that it is influenced by many factors that could change the readings. Perhaps there's another reason for your higher readings such as activity level, dietary changes that might include more caffeine/chocolate, and stress.
Because you tolerated this medication until now, it would make sense to work with it and raise the dose. 25 is the lowest dose, while the high end would be 100 mg twice a day. I suggest you check with your doctor who will probably recommend you go back to the 50 mg dose.
