Q: What causes erratic blood pressure?

My mother has very erratic blood pressure ranging from around 86/45 to 285/150. They've placed her on bp meds which haven't worked and they've also checked her hormones which are fine. Are there any other possiblilities? She had 3 mini strokes in the last year, but since becoming aware of her bp, has not had any more. She has been for numerous tests, and everything has appeared fine.

Hi Jennifer,

I recently interviewed Dr. Shelby-Lane and she answered a question related to heart palpitations and one related to blood pressure and heart rate.  You may find her comments useful to further assess your mother's condition.  Check out the post below:

Do you think there's a more natural approach to treating high blood pressure?

Has your mother been tested for APS (antiphospholipid syndrome) or Lupus, as that can cause lots of strokes. I am Lupus borderline and have had lots of strokes. My BP range is between 101-61 to 178-105, average 157-98. Does she get lots of itching, redness, skin peeling, soreness? They are some of the symptoms... Is this of any help to you?
