Q: My husband has high blood pressure and a rapid pulse of 100 or higher at resting.

My husband is on lisinopril for his high blood pressure and the past 2 years has had a rapid pulse of 100 or higher at resting. He takes dexidrine for narcolepsy and takes alpurinol for chronic kidney stones .  Is there something we can do to lower his heart rate & blood pressure that won't interfere with his other conditions and meds?

Hi Deb,

Yes, you can make diet and lifestyle changes that support a lower blood pressure.  By this I mean increasing physical activity and selecting heart healthy foods, such as a diet high in fruits and vegetables, whole grains, lean meats, and low fat dairy.
