What could be causing high systolic with low diastolic?

I began checking my blood pressure 3 times daily and found the systolic starts at about 130 in the morning, but rises during the day to 165-178. The diastolic remains in the 60's or 70's. I don't drink coffee or add salt. I'm concerned about this disparity.
