BP too high- Help
BP is 180 over 100. On 6 or more bp meds now. Drs just add meds, but numbers not coming down. How can I get someone to do something. When do I drive myself to hospital?
Been this way for months. Sometimes, Bp drops to 105/65, and then I almost pass out. Drs take me off meds, then days later they add meds.
Hi Just66horns,
First, continue to work with your MD to determine the best treatment options for your situation.
Are you making diet and lifestyle changes along with the medications? Such as weight loss, not smoking, limiting sodium, exercising regularly, follows the DASH diet, etc. If you haven't, those are changes I'd tackle ASAP.
Also, consider reading the book by Dr. Mark Houston titled "What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Hypertension". It provides valuable input on using nutrition to lower hypertension. However, ALWAYS consult your MD about any supplements you take.
All the best,
Lisa Nelson, RD, LN
