Q: Can the medication "Benicar" cause sinus and respitory conditions

CAN BENICAR BE CAUSING THIS VERY FRUSTRATING PROBLEM?     I have been suffering with sinus problems and chest congestion now for 5 months.  I have had surgery on my sinuses but still have issues with headaches, sinus pressure, stuffy, and also chest congestion.  The chest congestion goes with a continual cough with thick green mucus, wheezing, chest tightness.  My questions to you is Can the high blood pressure medicine that I am on(benicar) be causes any of these symptoms.  Should I get off the medicine for a couple of weeks to see if this problem will go away.

Hi Denise,

Respiratory issues are a potential side effect of Benicar. I recommend discussing with your physician to determine if you need to adjust your Benicar treatment plan. May not hurt to do a trial period discontinuing the medication and monitoring your symptoms; however, work with your physician.
