Hi Pam, Coreg CR belongs to a class of medications called an ACE inhibitor. Benicar HCT is a combination product that contains Benicar (an ARB) and HCTZ (which is a diuretic). Benicar and Coreg both work to lower blood pressure in a similar way- they both block causes of high blood pressure from the RAAS pathway, they just block it at different steps of the process. Some doctors may choose to have patients take this combination of medications, while others will choose a different combination to help lower blood pressure. Thanks for your question! Jill
