Hello eunita,

Heart rates generally tend to increase as people get older.  However, this is a very general statement.

Resting heart rates tend to increase, as maximal heart rates with exercise tend to decrease as you age.  The reasons for this are multi-factorial, but resting heart rates for adults regardless of age should be between 60-100 beats per minute.

If you have noticed a sudden increase or decrease in your heart rate or if you feel your heart rate is irregular, you should see your doctor immediately.  Any change in how you feel your heart pumps should be evaluated by your physician!

To your health,

Neil MD
