Kit Torchia,

Thanks for your question.  High cholesterol and triglycerides do not directly contribute to high blood pressure.  However, elevated lipids (cholesterol and triglycerides) are another risk factor for heart disease, as well as stroke and vascular disease.  The more risk factors that a person has, the greater the risk of having a heart problem.  In addition to elevated lipids and high blood pressure, the other risk factors are smoking, diabetes, genetic factors (or family history of heart diasease), and obesity.

Please continue to view the areas of this website to gain more information about high blood pressure and high cholesterol/triglycerides.

Thanks.
