Hi Sammejia,
I strongly recommend you speak with your MD and get a referral to a dietitian so you can learn the basics of how to control your blood sugars by balancing your carb intake. Calculating how many carbs you need and the right spacing throughout the day needs to be figured out based on what you are currently eating, your lifestyle, your blood sugars, your calorie needs (do you need to lose weight or maintain where you are), etc. There are too many different issues that play a part for me to give you a number.
Again, you would get the best results by speaking with your MD and meeting with a dietitian one-on-one that specializes in diabetes education.
All the best,
Lisa Nelson, RD, LN
